TPACK

TPACK - Week 2 was all about productive pedagogy and more specifically  the TPACK framework.

What is TPACK?
TPACK stands for Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge. TPACK is represented by a simple picture.

TPACK requires teachers to use and combine their content and  pedagogical knowledge with appropriate ICT and digital tools.

After watching this video, I understood more about what TPACK was all about and how the concept came together.

The TPACK approach combines the three areas instead of looking at each one in isolation. It also identifies new knowledge that can only be addressed due to the intersections anf overlap in ideas.

For my learning styles, I was mainly on the moderate to strong preference side of the scales.
On the first scale I was balanced but for the other three I was identified to be sensory, visual and sequential. The types of learning experiences that appeal to me are ones that include visual and hands on activities.

In a classroom, when appropriate, I would try to include elements that would help students to learn in their comfort zones but still try to push them to learn in new ways. Rotational groups would be a way that students could engage in lessons in their preferred styles. Students would be broke up into their learning style groups ad the activities would use materials / resources that appeal to their preferences.

Week 1 Reflection

This week I was unfortunately unable to make it to the first lecture and tute. I was fortunate however to have to go to the dentist instead.

I found it easy to catch up and to create my gmail and blog accounts using the helpful information / step by step guide sent out by Carike. Without it I would have been lost!

Im looking forward to completing this course and gaining many ICT skills and resources that will certainly help me throughout the rest of UNI and in the classroom.
